WELCOME TO THE BARRIO QUEEN FAMILIA

OUR HISTORY

Barrio Queen was established in 2011 when we first opened our doors in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. Our food pays homage to history and culture by serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine using traditional recipes from barrios throughout Mexico. We believe in supporting our community by using locally sourced, fresh ingredients in our dishes. Our food creates taste-craving memories that linger after you leave. Inside our locations, the Día de los Muertos decor creates an energetic and social atmosphere that allows you to detach and enjoy your unique, memorable dining experience.

OUR FOOD

Our flavor profiles are second to none because we are committed to authenticity. Guests will never find “Americanized” food on our menus, like hard-shell tortillas, taquitos and chimichangas. Instead, every page is full of recipes rooted in the rich history of Mexico’s vibrant barrios (“neighborhoods”). Those traditional flavors are made possible by using only fresh, quality ingredients from local farmers. From open to close, our menu is the same; guests are never forced to compromise for visiting us earlier than others, and every visitor is served complimentary mouthwatering salsa and homemade chips, each made from scratch every day.

Cochinita Pibil

This award-winning recipe is steeped in culture. We follow to the letter a classic Mayan recipe from the Yucatán Peninsula, including wrapping everything in a banana leaf and roasting it for over 12 hours. No corners are cut, no compromises made – commitment you can taste in every single bite.

Plate of Chile en Nogada

Chile En Nogada

Every recipe has a story, and chile en nogada is no exception. In 1821 in the state of Puebla, in honor of Mexico’s independence from Spain, two nuns were tasked with creating a dish to represent Mexico. They drew their inspiration from the Mexican flag, combining decadent flavors with masterful presentation to produce a delicious work of art. Two hundred years later, we continue to craft this dish with equal parts heart and soul.

Barrio Signature Guacamole

Our award-winning guacamole is based on an Aztec recipe, recorded in the 16th century and rooted in tradition. Handcrafted tableside, indulging in this guacamole is an experience for all five senses and invites our guests to join us in our love for food. The presentation is outdone only by the incredible flavors made possible by the freshest ingredients. Our signature touch? Pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top to provide an extraordinary texture to every bite.

OUR DRINKS

Our extensive tequila and mezcal list set the stage for our array of fun, flavorful drinks. Each has a personality all its own!

Skinny Chola Margarita

This light Latin beverage is all-natural, with a simple but satisfying mixture of Blanco tequila, agave nectar and fresh lime juice served on the rocks. Free from syrups, mixes and other artificial substitutes, the Skinny Chola Margarita is as much a staple for body-conscious barflies as it is for anyone in search of a straightforward, no-frills cocktail.

Death’s Door

Death’s Door is a staple at Barrio Queen. Complete with its own warning label, Death’s Door is concocted from habanero, jalapeno and chile de arbol-infused tequila, Ancho Reyes, Azuñia Organic Agave Syrup and fresh lime juice. It’s a devilish mix of flavors and not for the faint of heart.

Paloma

Served in a traditional mug, this authentic margarita is crafted tableside with fresh ingredients. Reposado tequila, salt, grapefruit, orange, lime and Mexican Squirt make this drink a crisp, Paloma-margarita-hybrid. Vibrant and refreshing, this drink is easy to love and popular among guests.

OUR ATMOSPHERE

Barrio Queen’s guests come for the food and stay for the culture. Our welcoming, friendly employees make everyone who passes through our doors feel like family. We do not take reservations, assuring our guests tables when they visit. Most of our restaurants have a separate “tequila room” that can be used for parties, and we frequently serve as the home for our guests’ fiestas. Year-round patios are available to enjoy the outdoors for all occasions. Our décor is based on Día de Los Muertos, the day of the dead, and immerses our guests in its ambiance with gorgeous, original murals painted by a renowned, local artist. From the attitude of our staff to the art on our walls, our guests know to expect genuine excellence at Barrio Queen
